It’s been 10 years since BII began investing and building the field of solidarity finance. We’re launching a series of events to celebrate this journey with our entrepreneurs, funders, investors, partners, and friends. We hope you can join us!
Since the creation of our pilot fund in 2013, we have launched two integrated capital funds focused on racial equity and economic justice, and collectively invested over $12 million in more than 70 small businesses and community organizations in Massachusetts and beyond. By investing in entrepreneurs of color whose companies directly address unmet needs in communities of color and commit to making an impact as employers, business partners and neighbors, we are helping to close the racial wealth divide and grow a new solidarity economy that is sustainable, equitable and inclusive.
In the coming months, BII will host three events to bring our community together:
- 10th Anniversary Community Gathering – June 1
- Fierce Urgency of Now Storytelling Event – September 13 or 14
- Solidarity Finance Summit and Year-End Party – December 14
We’ll also be celebrating and sharing stories online in a multimedia campaign throughout the remainder of 2023, including videos, web content and social media posts.
You can RSVP here for the Community Gathering, on Thursday, June 1, from 5 to 8 pm at the Old Oak Dojo, in Jamaica Plain, MA. This will be a FREE, family-friendly celebration with indoor and outdoor activities, including a food truck, a beer garden, displays and demonstrations by BII portfolio companies, and live music.
