GreenEdge Accelerator Welcomes Its Largest Cohort Yet
BII is proud to announce the launch of the Spring 2026 session of the GreenEdge Accelerator — and with 17 businesses joining this cohort, it’s the program’s largest to date.
Funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), BII’s GreenEdge Accelerator is a statewide accelerator helping Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) strengthen their operations, navigate certifications, and build the industry connections needed to compete in Massachusetts’ growing clean energy economy. Sessions began in March, and the cohort will culminate in a capstone event in May.
From One Cohort to the Next: Momentum in Motion
When GreenEdge launched its inaugural Fall 2025 cohort, the goal was straightforward: give small business owners the tools, coaching, and connections they needed to enter and compete in clean energy markets. In November, those businesses presented their capstone projects and received their certificates — a meaningful milestone that marked not just the end of the eight-week program, but the continuation of their work with coaches beyond the cohort.
That momentum carries directly into Spring 2026. What’s different this time isn’t just the size of the cohort. It’s a clearer understanding of what these businesses need and how to meet them where they are.
A Note from the Program Manager
Walther Morales Rios, Senior Program Manager, reflects on the program’s growth and what’s ahead:
“Running the first GreenEdge cohort made something clear that data alone can’t capture — that the barriers facing MWBEs in clean energy aren’t just about certifications or contracts. They’re about confidence, systems, and how businesses position themselves in the market. Seeing our Fall participants earn their certificates in November was important, but what stood out more was how they showed up for each other and how their businesses began to evolve during the process.
The Spring 2026 cohort brings together 17 businesses from across Massachusetts, representing a range of industries connected to the clean energy economy, from EV charging infrastructure to logistics to welding to sustainability consulting. That breadth is a strength. Our goal is not to just help businesses understand clean energy, but to help them operate in it. Clean energy isn’t one industry; it’s an ecosystem and businesses approach it from multiple directions.
Samalid Hogan and I are proud of what this program has become, and we’re energized by what this cohort is going to accomplish.”
